What’s The Purpose of Teachable?
As online product owners, we need a secure and simple way for people to access the products they purchase from us. We’ve tried everything ranging from WordPress plugins, funky scripts, and even custom coded websites. Nothing ever made us happy and it always felt like we had to “hack it” just to make it work. We stumbled upon some other marketing friends of ours and saw they were using this new-ish tool called Teachable. After digging into a course (as a customer) and checking out the layout, we were pretty much hooked.
Teachable has to be the most simple, user-friendly, membership platform that we’ve seen. We can easily drag-n-drop videos into Teachable. It hosts our videos, audios, and PDFs for us. The layout from a student’s perspective is simple and intuitive and easy to navigate. There’s no limits to how many customers we can give access to.
We can drip-feed content, meaning that content becomes available after someone’s been a member for a specific time. We can easily bundle multiple courses together and so much more. It’s so much more simple that trying to convert a WordPress website into a membership site, which is what most membership tools try to do. This is just so much cleaner. We don’t worry about hosting, bandwidth, how many members we have, where to host the media, etc. It’s just super clean and simple and our customers seem to like it to.

How We Use It In Our Business:
We use Teachable for our members area and our affiliate product bonus delivery area. When you buy a course from us, you are added to that course in Teachable. If you buy an affiliate product through one of our special links, we deliver the bonuses by adding people to a bonus course in Teachable. If someone’s already bought a course from us or received a bonus from us, we can simply add more courses to their account and next time they login, they’ll see them. Anytime we need to deliver protected content, Teachable is where we go.
How You Can Use It In YOUR Business:
Here are some ways that you can use Teachable in your business…
- Sync your Teachable account with Thrivecart. You can automatically enroll students into Teachable immediately upon purchase. These two natively integrate with each other, so you can even do some extensive tagging to help with automations.
- Create coupon codes for bonus delivery. We always offer bonuses for people who buy products through our affiliate links. To deliver those bonuses, we create a coupon code in Teachable that brings the price of a course down to $0. We followup with the buyer of the affiliate product and send them a link to “purchase” their bonuses along with the coupon code that brings the price down to $0. It’s a simple workaround to deliver bonus content in a protected way.
- Create a video inside of every Teachable course that you create that teaches people how to become an affiliate of your product. Have this video be one of the first videos they see when they enroll. It’s a quick way to convert all new subscribers into affiliates of your product.
